Christmas Creep

I have a bone to pick with a lot companies, retailer and even with some people. Today is November 8th, 18 days before Thanksgiving and there are ads promoting Christmas. My problems isn’t with Christmas, it’s that they are creeping up Christmas before its time. I’m pretty sure I saw Christmas decorations before Halloween.

My problem with this that it doesn’t give certain holidays, such as Thanksgiving, their proper respect. I think that it’s completely wrong… you can start airing christmas commercials, singing carols and christmas songs, worry about what to get for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving…

While on the subject; its Thanksgiving, not turkey day. While you might eat a lot of turkey the point of the holiday is to give thanks. I will give you a tongue lashing if I see you write or speak turkey day.

“Turkey day!” … Just kidding. I agree with everything that you said.

Corporations and their marketing schemes have taken advantage of holidays and thrive on our consumer-mentality. It is somewhat how-the-grinch-stole-christmas-esque. You would think a recession would eradicate some of that. But, I suppose not.
